Whoever you are there are a variety of ways you can get involved in and contribute to SOPHIA’s work. As a participant, you can either directly partake in the NGO's work, or raise awareness and campaign about the issues we address, network with us to further our mission, or donate to SOPHIA.
You may directly contribute to SOPHIA’s work by becoming a member of our team. We welcome volunteers or interns to join us at our office in Dehradun for a minimum of one month. Click Join Our Team for more information.
SOPHIA aims to network with other NGOs to develop and enrich an understanding of the maintenance of livelihoods through forest rights. Networking provides the opportunity to further our respective missions by exchanging experiences and learning from each other. If you would like to either talk or meet with us, please contact us directly.
SOPHIA hopes to raise awareness about the issues it addresses and its work both nationally and internationally. Others’ support for our cause adds potency to our work and increases the pressure on the government. Thus, in a variety of ways, you can help our cause from your front door!
To pressure the government of Uttarakhand to settle forest rights claims please write to the chief minister, or by holding and submitting a petition. Furthermore, we have digitised single page flyers about SOPHIA and the Van Gujjars, which you may want to distribute to others in your vicinity.
